Bitcoin Remains Consolidated After US PPI

Bitcoin has yet to produce a major breakout even though US producer inflation data came in lower than market expectations.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the final demand Producer Price Index (PPI) for July 2026 was unchanged at 0.0% month-over-month. Year-over-year, the PPI rose 4.7%, down from a 5.5% increase in June.

The PPI measure excluding food, energy, and trade services rose 0.4% month-over-month and 4.7% year-over-year. Final demand goods prices fell 0.7%, including a 3.1% decline in energy prices.

The traditional market's reaction to the data was relatively positive. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell to around 4.65%, while the probability of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in September also decreased following a lower-than-expected PPI.

However, Bitcoin only received a limited boost. BTC briefly moved toward US$64,000 following the inflation data, but has yet to build sustained momentum above that area.

Bitcoin Support and Resistance Today

Based on the latest trading range, US$62,800–US$63,000 is the initial support area to watch. The intraday low was around US$62,822, making that area the nearest lower bound in the current price structure.

If BTC drops and holds below US$62,800, selling pressure could shift focus toward the US$62,000 area.

On the upside, US$63,900–US$64,000 is the nearest resistance as it is close to the recent trading high of around US$63,918. After that, the US$64,300–US$65,000 area remains a zone that needs to be broken before Bitcoin's recovery momentum appears stronger.

These support and resistance levels are editorial technical estimates based on recent price ranges and are not a guarantee of the market's next direction.

Bitcoin ETFs Record US$125.4 Million Outflow

Capital flows from United States spot Bitcoin ETFs remain one of the factors holding back BTC's momentum.

The latest data from Farside Investors shows that spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of US$125.4 million on August 13, 2026. The day before, August 12, Bitcoin ETFs also posted a net outflow of US$61.1 million.

This means that during those two sessions, Bitcoin ETFs experienced a net outflow of approximately US$186.5 million.

On August 13, Fidelity's FBTC recorded an outflow of approximately US$55.1 million, BITB around US$9.3 million, ARKB about US$58.8 million, and GBTC roughly US$36.3 million. Several other products saw inflows, but not enough to offset the total withdrawals.

Two consecutive days of outflows suggest that demand via spot ETFs is weakening following a period of inflows in early August. Farside notes that ETF data is updated automatically and in real-time, so the latest figures may still be subject to adjustments.

Lower PPI, but BTC Has Yet to Get a Major Boost

The PPI results signal that price pressures at the producer level are beginning to ease compared to the previous month.

The annual headline PPI fell to 4.7% from 5.5%, while the monthly index remained flat. The decline in energy prices was one of the main factors helping to alleviate pressure on goods prices.

In theory, this data should help risk assets by reducing the pressure regarding the possibility of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates again in the near future. The U.S. stock market even responded positively, while Treasury yields fell following the data release.

However, Bitcoin is still holding below US$64,000. This indicates that more positive macro sentiment has not yet been enough to offset weak spot momentum and ETF outflows.

U.S. Retail Sales Tonight Become the Next Catalyst

Following the CPI and PPI, market attention is shifting toward U.S. retail sales for July 2026.

The U.S. Census Bureau has scheduled the Advance Monthly Retail Trade Report for July to be released on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 8:30 AM U.S. time, or around 7:30 PM Western Indonesian Time.

The latest data shows that US retail and food services sales in June reached US$768.6 billion, up 0.2% from the previous month and 6.7% compared to June 2025. The Census Bureau has scheduled the next update for August 14.

Retail sales are significant because they provide a direct snapshot of the strength of US household consumption. Data showing much stronger consumption could push Treasury yields higher again if the market perceives the economy as still hot enough to warrant a tight monetary policy.

Conversely, weaker figures could reinforce expectations that the Federal Reserve has more room to hold interest rates steady.

For Bitcoin, the reaction of the US dollar and Treasury yields following the data release could be a key factor in determining volatility during tonight's trading.

Can Bitcoin Return to US$65,000?

Bitcoin still has the potential to retest US$65,000, but the price first needs to break out of its current consolidation.

The first resistance is around US$63,900–US$64,000. If Bitcoin is able to break through and hold above that level, the focus can shift back toward US$64,300 and then US$65,000.

Conversely, a failure to maintain US$62,800–US$63,000 could increase the risk of a correction toward the US$62,000 area.

In the very short term, tonight's US retail sales data could be the next catalyst that determines whether BTC can break out of its narrow range or continue to move sideways heading into the weekend.

Conclusion

Bitcoin price today, August 14, 2026, hovering around US$63,474 or IDR 1.13 billion per BTC in the morning. BTC remains in a consolidation phase with a recent trading range of approximately US$62,822 to US$63,918.

The US July PPI data provided a relatively positive macro sentiment after the headline PPI showed no monthly increase and annual producer inflation fell to 4.7%. Although Treasury yields also declined, Bitcoin has yet to build a breakout above US$64,000.

On the institutional side, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of US$125.4 million on August 13, bringing the total outflow over the last two sessions to approximately US$186.5 million.

Technically, US$62,800–US$63,000 serves as initial support, while US$63,900–US$64,000 acts as the nearest resistance. A recovery above US$64,300 would open up a greater opportunity for Bitcoin to retest US$65,000.

The next major catalyst arrives tonight around 7:30 PM WIB with the release of US July retail sales. Since the CPI and PPI failed to trigger a major breakout, this consumption data is the next item on the agenda for the Bitcoin market to watch.
